yo what's up honda-tech. i got a 94 dx coupe & i've got this weird issue. basically, i bought the car 4 months ago and never had the gauge cluster lights working. i checked the fuses and all that good stuff. i looked online for a wiring harness cause there's these 3 wires that are just hangin there chillin. my jdm fogs came in yesterday and i was puttin them in last night, and under my dash, next to my fuse box i saw an alarm box. i don't have any clickers for it so i didn't even know it was still there.

now this is where it gets weird. i hooked up my fogs last night and whatever, got them working, and tonight when i got home from work and i closed my car i forgot my bogies in it. so a few minutes later i went back out and grabbed them. but when i opened my door, my gauges flashed like an alarm was going off. idk what made it work but i couldn't get it to happen again. it was like a fluke. lol.

now here's where i come to honda-thread; does anyone have any photos or wiring diagrams for the ej2s? i wanna disconnect this alarm this weekend and maybe fix my problems?? any help'll be really appreciated.

So the gauge cluster lights worked when, [your thinking] the alarm "triggered" them, but they do not work when you turn on the park/head lights, is that correct?

Find the alarms light flash output wire and fallow it to where it is connected to the cars wiring, if the connector is not a "T" tap or Scotch Loc, [or something like it] I will be surprised.

It is common for those type of connectors to cut through all the wire strands in the lead they are used on, breaking the connection, [just like cutting the wire] the connector stays in contact with only one end of the cut lead, [in your case the cluster side] so there is no longer a connection from the park light switch to the cluster, but the alarm is still connected to the cluster so it would flash the cluster lights.

My guess is that the cars park lights did not flash when this happened, is that correct? 94

 

you are 100% correct. there were no corners, nor tail light flashes. there are 3 wires that hang that I found while I was installing the fogs. a black one looking like a ground, and another black, and a grey one.

alright, so i just went under the dash to remove the alarm. it's not nice. not at all. there's like 4 wires that are cut and electrical taped and a lot of wires right in the main harness that are hacked into, as well. i know the red/black wire is the main power for the gauge cluster, and it's cut. two of the wires that are hanging are coming from the alarm brain, so i'm assming that they're for the siren that's not hooked up. there's another thing next to the brain under the dash that's like see thru. looks like a mother board to something. it's kinda small. i can't get it out because some of the wires to that are going up in the dash. help. :[

Ditto that, a mess.

The "see through" thing is the alarms impact sensor, the leads, [probably 4 of them, red, black, blue and green] should run back to a plug in on the alarm brain, if not already unplugged.

I do not have a schematic for a 94 DX but red/black is normally illumination on Honda/Acura, yellow is more likely the "main power" color for the cluster.

Pull the brain and trace each lead from alarm brain to where it is connected to cars wiring and disconnect at that point.
