Default Fan switch not working for "1" and "2"

Have a 97 ek hatch and was running the a/c on "2" when suddenly it stopped. Now it seems I can only use the fan at "3" or "4". Any suggestions?

Thanks

most likely your resistor pack burned up. theres usually 2 or 3 resistors controlling your blower motor. one for speeds 1 and 2. the other for speed 3 or 4 or both. check them out.

Basically, if any of the speeds fail except for the highest speed (full voltage) than there's a 99% chance it's the blower resistors.

JA1258 $27.99 at autozone is what you need. Its located behind the glove box in the blower unit, up top in the middle.

Also check the blower motor amp draw. If its too high then you'll just keep going through resisotors.
