Probably dead. Looks like an older model (pre-04) and insurance companies do things the "right" way which isnt the cheap way. Looks like a good $10k+ of damage to me.

Definitely AP1, airbags are going to hurt you quite a bit as is the entirely trashed front crossmember. I had much much much less damage to mine which equaled up $4000 after everything was said and done.

If the bags never came out, it would have been alive, but they're going to write this off because of them. They are expensive as hell and many other parts need to be replaced as a procedure even if the parts are fine. Sorry to hear.

YEP YEP you should talk to the dudes that deal with salvage/wrecked cars. I've seen them repair a flipped bmw or weld on a new rear end or even piece a car together. Dont just take "dead" for granit. ask around. And its not 10k to repair that. What the insurance quotes you is not the final answer. My buddy had a smashed rear and insurance quoted him 4.5k and he fixed it for 1k. As long as the engine is not damaged(i mean the block and head or tranny) then the rest should be so so. oh yea ask about the frame too if its toooo bad or not to bad.
Airbags might be some $$ but craigslist and the dismantlers should be your best friend.

A little further off the edge and you could have been (thank goodness you're not) but as for the car, R.I.P.

And your buddy probably bought an unknown quality used parts, did the work himself (not-certified) and has no documentation for the repair. He probably also does not have the resources to have the rest of the car checked.

Sketchily repaired cars are sketch.

Same here, bumper guard, head lights, hood and fenders. 4800 dollars for mine I think.

****'s toast...

I'm so sick of seeing wrecked s2ks. I goddamn know 90% of them are caused by loser kids trying to showoff, be some Initial D loser, of just joyriding way too much.

Sorry for your loss, OP

Not necessarily....it will go to auction, probably be bought with another with rear end damage and some redneck will weld them together in his backyard and sell it as "freshly painted".

Sorry, but even done crappily with used and non-oem parts, the bill on that one is going to be stout. All new OEM parts (as it should be done), decent paint and you've got $10k+. Then again, paint alone for mine was $5500ish....but thats the difference in cheap crap that ricers do and myself.

ALL shops were licenced. If you can change your oil by yourself, why pay the dealers? same here...if you can bend out the fender or change a bumper or light by yourself, why pay some dude to do it?

Haha, changing your oil and doing half-assed repairs are completely different. I can't count the number of times I've seen poorly repaired things in the Welding/Fabrication forum.

People buy cars only to find HUGE wrinkles in the engine bay from an accident and only find it by noticing a misaligned headlight or something.

Bwhahahahaha....not quite. Guess you've never seen them cut out and weld in new sub panels, just like the pictures in this post, there is no "bending" those back to life. Even if you could, you bend metal back and furth and its now weaker then it was originally (ie, not repaired properly, which causes the chassis to be less rigid and causes concern for safety if you were in another crash).

nope a dude will buy it at auction and fix the front end and sell it for sure and make atleast 700 buck on it

btw I will NEVER buy a oem let say fender from dealers for lets say 200 bucks when I can get the same one made in taiwan for 35 buck. I know I got 3 honda's from the auction and you got to know the little ways to save money.
Yes all the frame work is done at a licenced shop. all the rest is just overpaying for nothing.
