Help! D15Z1 Vtec-E motor in 99 Civic dx
I have a 99 dx hatch and it has the 99 dx EWH on a obd-1 D15Z1 Vtec-E motor with obd2-b to obd1 with a p28 it run great but taking off under 2000 rpms it is sluggish as hell and missing some time but over 2000 rpms it good and hits vtec fine. The only check engine light i have is IACV and the EGRV is not wired up.
can i put a y8 manifold on it people say to put it on to get a little more power or should i leave the stoke one on it.

If it has, you have so many potential problems. the first one I'd investigate, the chipped P28. chips tend to be approximations at best, any drivability or laggy power issues can easily be traced back to this. Have you had it tuned? Silly for a Z1, but it will make a difference.
If it's only just started doing this I'd check the distributor, it's likely on it's way out.
Keep in mind that the Z1 was never a power house under 2k anyway...

i got the car like a week ago and the stoke motor was blown, got the z1 motor for free and put it in it been running for 4 days now. the only thing that is not original 99 civic dx is the motor tranny and obd2-b to obd1 with virgin p28. the dizzy is off the 99 dx motor

I don't know about that, but I've got a 99 HX with the D16Y5 which is vtec-e, and my 0-60 time is about 15 seconds. It get's 40 mpg though.

wait, you're running a stock P28, on a Z1? there's you're problem.
the fuel and timing maps on the two are VERY different. (especially below 2500RPM)
chip the ECU with the P07 maps and it will likely run a lot better.

i'll sell u a full d16z6 swap, everything u need, not problems at all (fixed the revlimit issue)

keep in mind the P07 requires a NGK L1H1 wideband in palce of the typical narrowband O2.
ULESS you can find a 37820-P07-L01 or L02. These are from the cali-spec VX, which used the typical narrow band. But they are like unmolested CTR's at this point.
you're best bet would be to use the P28, chip it with the P07 maps. Anyone with a burner can do it. Just stay clear of the performance chips on ebay, they will only decrease mileage and potentially harm the engine.
P06 = 1.6L non-VTEC. It will run the same as the P28 before VTEC, then run out of power very quickly around 4k.
keep in mind the stock P07 VTEC point is around 3k, and designed for fuel mileage, it's a totally different engine than the other OBD1 D-series.
