99 Civic Brake Issues ! Please Help ASAP
Ok so today im putting along in my 99 vic LX, I press the breaks and my right rear tire locks up! I move slowly and press breaks again and notice that the pedal feels "funny" and all of a sudden it grabs and again my right rear wants to grab quickly. And it feels like its all rear brakes not much front! And while coasting (2-8 mph) i would pull the E-break and it would do the same thing!!
After yanking on the e-brake up and down rapidly a few times and driving it around slowly it magically just stop doing this and worked fine.?!? No CEL or ABS lights.....nothing!
Im now worried that this will happen out of nowhere again, possibly driving down the interstate and have "no" brakes. Is there any trouble shooting i can do, maybe reset the ABS system.........?
Any input asap would be great so I can check it tonight before heading off to work tomorrow on my 65 mile one way commute!
Thanks guys...........and gals !!!!!!!

pretty sure they are drum brakes right? if so... probably the adjustment screw slipped. or maybe a spring broke. take off the wheel, slide the drum off, and have someone slowly press the break and see what happens. you might take it off and the pads and broken parts fell out
happened to me. you need to act quickly because something might have broken, might scrape your drum and you will need a new one.

!!!UPDATE!!!
Yes to drum brakes ! I just took the wheel and drum off and all looks to be fine. When the brake is applied the part that pushes the pads apart seems to be fine with no leaks. However, it does push the forward pad most then pushes the rear. Im not familiar enough with drum breaks to know if this is normal operation or not.
If yall have any more suggestions or comments please let me know.
Thanks again!!!

that is normal with drum brakes for one shoe to do more work than the other. this is why alot of times on drum brakes wear one shoe more than the other.
they could be out of adjustment check the other side. also check the other side for problems.
they could also possibly need bled again or correctly if someone changed the wheel cylinder before
also i'm not familiar if drum brakes use a proportioning valve or not, but that may also be the problem
hopefully someone that has encountered this problem before comes along and may be able to help you more
