Not for Sale!
Looking for opinions, I just bought a 2002 Civic Si that has a GReddy Turbo System with intercooler and turbo timer.
My plans for this car do not involve making it a race car, (that's what the CRX is for). A sporty grocery-getter is the plan.
Would I be better off converting it back to original when I go to sell it, or will I get more money by selling the turbo car?
Thank you,
Greg

if your feeling frisky... i would even suggest taking that boosted motor and putting it in the crx, then buying a cheap k24a4 long block for your si. it will technically be economical IMO.
just a thought.. haha dont mind me

I will assure you that having a built turbo motor in your car will get you MAYBE $1200 more than blue book price if that. People don't want something that has obviously been beaten on. There are some exceptions if you find someone that wants to fully rebuild it themselves so buying it with some of the turbo components saves them a little extra cash. Or if you find someone that is an idiot and doesn't care.
My friend put $10,000 into his EG hatch including the price of the car. Fully built engine, turbo, wheels, interior, etc. It was a clean build and it was done nicely.
He got $5,300 after having it for sale for a couple months. It was pointless and he lost $5,000 in 6 months.
My advice to you:
Don't pour more than like $2500 - $3000 into a car unless you plan to build it for things that over all price won't matter (like racing), plan on keeping it for a long to where value won't be affected, buy parts that can be swapped back for the originals and resold, or have way too much money. :D
Hope that helps! Don't invest more money than you should until you have really given the car a trial and decide you want to keep it.
