Relocated oil filter/oil cooler
I plan on using an oil cooler mounted up front by my radiator along with an oil filter relocator which I will probably put up where my battery used to be on the firewall, passenger side(95 Integ). I am also using a thermostat which will be in between the cooler and filter.
My question is, will having the filter that high up in the engine bay affect my oil pressure since the oil will be pumped up from the block to the filter? Will this put any strain on the engine?
Also, when I shut my car off, I assume that the oil in the lines going up to the filter will drain back down into the pan and slightly raise my oil level on the dipstick.
A friend of mine told me I should have the filter and lines and cooler all level with the original filter location on the block.........I don't think this is very practical.
I would like to hear your opinions/experience with this.
Thanks!

I relocated my filter to the frame rail where my battery use to sit. Pressure did not drop one bit according to my Autometer gauge. I am not currently running an oil cooler but you will usually see a very small pressure drop when running a cooler.
Go ahead and relocate your filter, it will work fine.

BTW, what's the nned to relocate the filter ? Can't you just run the line from the cooler fitting on the back of the block directly to the cooler ?
The oil cooler lines on the back of the block are lines that flow engine coolant, not oil, through the base that the oil filter screws onto. An aftermarket oil cooler is really a mini radiator that the actual engine oil flows through and cools down.
I am putting a spin on plate adapter that goes where my oil filter originally screwed onto the back of the block. I had to buy a new oil filter bolt (the hollow bolt that the oil filter screws onto) from an Integra LS (they do not come with factory water cooled oil coolers like the GSR does) and I removed the factory oil cooler. The oil filter bolt for the GSR is longer to accomodate the oil cooler base.
You don't have to do this, but I am going to take those two factory oil coolant lines and run them to my turbo since it is also water cooled.
The spin on plate has two lines coming out of it, a feed and a return. The feed goes to the relocated filter mount where the oil filter is mounted and comes out of that, into a thermostat, out of that to the oil cooler, out of that and back through the thermostat and back to the block.
They do make a spin on plate that has two lines to run to a cooler and it lets you keep the filter there.............I just like having the oil filter in an easier place to reach.

Thanks for the info !
Steve91....thanks for the input!
X2BOARD.........cool man, yeah, I almost got that adpater but could not figure out which part number it was from Perma-cool, then I found the right adapter plate and decided to relocate my filter.....it worked out better for my application. I can send you pics when I am finished.

if you look in the Summit Domestic Catalog, they have a universal spin on adaptor and radiator with all the supplies for $99.99...its under either the cooling or oil section.
