Default GSR 4th gear shift??

Does anyone have a tough time throwing their car into 4th gear when shifting quickly??

Once in a while I have a difficult time putting the car into 4th. No grinds or anything.

My setup: 92 hatchback with B18C1, GSR shift linkage, stock integra shifter.

Second gear is a bitch to me. Many time I have thrown it into 2nd and it just rebounds (pops) back out. No grinds but still very embarassing when you're trying to pass someone and all you hear is "vroooooooooooooom"

I think you might want to have you syncros checked, maybe one is worn out. I belive 1st and 2nd gear do not have syncros and I just chalked this up to my lacluster drving skills and the lack of those syncros...

Good luck

Could be bent fork or syncs - 1st & 2nd have their own , 3rd, 4th & 5th by them self , reverse - none...don't ask how I know there about 150 - 230 $ each and ARE covered under warrenty. Hope this helps !

The syncro is going to be 298 from Acura with no warranty. Easy to replace once tranny is out.

I am 99% sure that reverse does not have a synchro. If it does it is nothing like the forward gears synchos. Thats why you can't put the car into reverse unless you are completely at rest.

I don't really know about the original problem...

the bitch for me is always 5th gear; im too lazy to throw my arm all the way to the right just to get in the gate really quickly. so it takes a lil longer for me to grab that. but 3rd and 4th are definitely the easiest (for me), can't explain why.

1 - 2 is by bitch shift. i love the 2 - 3 and the 3 - 4. THe 1 - 2 shift is alot harder to pull in than the others. Could that be due to the sycros needing to do their job???

The spacing between 1-2 is greater than 2-3, 3-4, 4-5. So the synchros probably have to work harder when you're shifting really fast. Ever notice that daily driving, you bog 2nd gear if you're not careful? Shifting through all other gears are so much easier than 1-2.

Agreed, 1 to 2 is a difficult one, and never seems as smooth as other shifts. But 3 to 4 is not problem. Simple flick of the wrist. Maybe you should look into the synchros. Did you buy the shift linkage used? Did you check it thoroughly before purchase?
