Default transmission fluid and 5th gear whine

hi i have a 91 civic hatch with a zc. i recently changed my transmission fluid. today i started to hear a whine in 5th gear and it popped out of gear once. is this because of the fluid? i used 10w-30. let me know what you guys use.

Always go with Honda MTF nothing else, using standard motor oil is not a good idea for many reasons.

yes it would. Think of honda engineered MTF the same way as the Honda engineered power steering fluid.

If your popping out of gear I think some damage is already done. Do want to make it worse? Honda MTF for the win! If you don't see an improvement then you've got nothing to lose by trying synchromesh, but it's unnecessary for a healthy trans.

You can try Redline 75W-80 or 75W90, the 75W90 due thickness and need lil warmed up in the cold weather.

http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=46&pcid=7

I've tried 1 bottle 75W90 mixed with Honda MTF, solved prob.
