Reaching out to folks to get input on a problem I'm having with my '09 Accord Coupe. The issue is when the vehicle engine is on and the car is in park and you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and bring it back a creaking noise is emitted from the front left wheel well. The noise occurs when backing up and depress the brakes, and when applying the brakes moving forward in a straight line. It also, occurs when at a full stop and you press the accelerator to start the vehicle moving forward.

I have taken it to the dealership for repair 3 times already and the 1st and 3rd vist they could re-create the noise but on the 2nd visit they couldn't. The service department acknowledged the noise during test drives with their tech lead but the noise mysteriously disappears during diagnostics phase. I have posted a video on youtube capturing the noise. Any insight/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped...

Could be the tophat. Its a bit hard to tell because you kept moving the camera. Kind of hard to pin point the noise.

I find that very interesting... For sure you have movement in the suspension area. What has the dealer done for you?

If you are a DIY person, I would loosen and then retighten all the suspension components associated with the shock. The top hat the lower strut mount etc.

Does the sound occur when the wheel is turned when you are not pulling on the steering wheel.

 

...strut mount bolts, subframe bolts, control arm bushing bolts, could be the strut itself...
persistence with the dealer, however inconvenient, will work eventually as well

 

That creaking noise is very similar to my car, I replaced upper control arm but it has not gone away.....sighhhhh, impossible to diagnose bc there are so many joints, bushings, etc. anybody ideas? Lower control arm might need replacement, knuckle shouldn't

 

Hey there - I have a 2010 Sedan with the same problem. If it hasn't been solved for you, have the dealer check TSB 12-082. This is a TSB to replace both lower ball joints with an updated part. It's not a recall and they will only cover it under warranty Otherwise it's out of pocket. The noise on mine has gotten really bad this summer.

Anyway, I imagine this is probably it. Good luck!
