Icon6 Need Help.. b18c timing setup

Hey guys, Wuts up?
I need a little help. I had my engine built by Gord bush a bit ago, but when it was built I forgot to give them the inside timing cover that goes behind the cam gears. So when I brought the engine home, I took the head apart and installed the cover myself.
Now the cams gears had been properly degreed. so when I put the head back together, I lined up the gears on the marks as if they were set up like stock. Now thinkging about it, maybe that might be an issue.
Should i have set the cam gears back to the original position before setting timing, and then once timming was done adjust the gears to there degreed position
Thanx for the help

You would have wanted to put everything back together exactly the way it was when you took it apart. If you've changed the settings you may want to go back to the shop and have them reset/tune the engine.

I never touched the adjusting allen key bolts after the engine was degreed. What i meant by " I lined up the gears on the marks as if they were set up like stock." was, I left the adjustin allen key bolts alone, and lined up the white timing lines on the outside of the gear as if doing timing like normal.
Is that what i should have done?

If that's how things were before they degreed and timed your motor, yes. This also assumes the motor was set to TDC (Top Dead Centre) as well.
