Default Freelog without Ostrich?

I don't have an ostrich emulator but i have a hondalog cable as well as the chipped ECU etc. with a Willem burner.

I see all types of write ups of how to use Crome Free, Ostrich, and Freelog together. I'm burning the chip in and out "the Poor boy fashion" and using Freelog 1.0.93, Crome 1.5, and going to use a Civic VX O2 for the wideband.

Problem I'm having is nothing is coming through the Freelog that I can tell. (No wideband hooked up yet. Just checking out the other sensors at the moment) I have the correct port selected, matched the baude rate to the bits-per-second rate as shown in the guide here:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...hlight=Freelog
Pretty much followed this guide to the point. When it came to the ostrich i simply put the chip in. (Basemap on it had the Quicklogging+RTP enabled as well as the checksum deleted as the ostrich would have.)
I've also set the "Data CMD's" section as shown.
Loop back test successful (simulated. Hondalog cable is correct i know but i went through to motions to be sure)

Sanity test on the other hand.... It keeps failing saying the Cui datalogging cable is not connected. This is noted to be possibly faulty ECU, basemap, or ostrich. Since I'm not using an Ostrich I'm assuming this is why.

If this is why though. Isn't there some other way i could use this as a stand alone datalogger?

J12 is cut
Crome basemap has the datalogging enabled and checksum deleted.

Sorry for the long post but just so much info that even this post doesn't show just trying to find out if this is normal. All the info i search up has people using the ostrich and Crome and freelog together. Possibly that's the only way it works together?
