timming belt snap
Here is the question my little brother snap his single cam belt last night heading to work and i ask him if he made sure he did not put it into gear or try cranking it with the snap belt. but he did tell me he let the car roll and then tried to crank the car a couple of times, what are the odds of having the valve be bent? i am going to work on it tommorrow and hope he did not destroy the valves, but what are your thought? Because the real damage can only come from a high speed valve touch or a gear rolling piston to valve touch, that i have seen
Not so much, I've personally broken a timing belt on a D-series and tried cranking it repeatedly, never bent any valves, and i'm not the only one. I've heard tell of guys breaking timing belts at 8 grand and not bending valves. I'd take a chance and put on a new timing belt and see what happens.
ive personally snapped a tbelt at about 8k and didnt bend any valves. call it luck but you dont always bend valves. youd be able to hear it if you cranked the motor over. replace timing belt and check compression/leakdown.
My brother had that happen two time and was lucky both times. My buddy had it happen and was not lucky, and my girlfriend had it happen and wasn't lucky. Cross your fingers!
