I've currently got two bad transmissions:

B16 Hydro - Ripped hole in the rear (t-bracket bolting position); case is bad, internals good.
GSR Hydro - Bad differential bearings

So, I could either buy the bearings ($100 from Acura), throw all the B16 gears in the GSR case (I'd rather avoid that), or potentially use the differential from my B16 in the GSR.

Basically, I'm curious how smoothly I can swap out the GSR differential with the B16? Is the diff the only thing I need, or would it require me to swap more parts from my B16 over? If so, what specifically are those?


And since it's not really worth making a thread, but I don't know where to look, but...where do you all get your Honda bond? And what lube do most of you transmission guys use when rebuilding / installing etc?

If you want to use the B16 diff, you need to use the B16 FD (ring gear AND countershaft) and shim it. Or you can just change out the diff bearings. If it uses the tapered bearings as most GSR's do, you can switch to the enclosed ball bearings which will be easier to shim as well as cheaper. Whichever option you choose it needs to be shimmed.
