Default Is there any hope for building up an LS?

I have an LS motor with a GSR tranny in my 92 civic hatch, everybody says, slap on a vtec head, or turbo it. So far both of these don't seem catchy to me because realiability is key. I want to work with what i have now, just the motor itself, i find it to be pretty fast, i take my friends '99 SH lude with ease, same goes for my friend with a '00 VR6 jetta. This is a daily driven car, so far i have done a lot of weight reduction such as removal of tar, a/c, p/s, firewall mat, backseats, spare/jack etc. performance wise i have and ITR flywheel and ITR catback exhaust. Which route should i go with this motor, i am set to keep it boost free, i just can't risk it. thanks

I'd really recommend surfing this forum. There has been a lot of good informational threads regarding nonvtec setups and b18a's and so forth.

So you want to buildup the LS NA?

It can be done, and its worth while. Its pretty expensive, but if thats the road you want to take, by all means go for it.

How much you want to do, depends on how much work you want done.
You could increase the displacement, high comp pistons, or just settle for boltons and cams.

I plan on building up my B20 NON-vtec when I get it in. If you do a search on b18 or B20, you'll find a few threads where people are making 150, 160, and 170 whp N/A. My goal is 170 whp N/A non-vtec...or 13s in the 1/4.

You should get a good header, (2.5" collector) intake and exhaust..and cat, along with some crower 403s or 404s and an AFC. Those alone should net you +/- 160 whp from what i've read. You already have a good transmission and flywheel, so that's a start! Good luck
