Is theft still that bad?
So I will have to get a new daily driver soon, and I want to avoid payments as much as possible. I've been looking at 92-95 hatches and del sols, automatic models. But I've been wondering, is theft still as bad as I assume it is here in LA? I park in the street where I live.
I mean, at the most if the car had anything it would have some lowering springs and cheap wheels, which probably is still asking for it. But is Honda theft so bad that even an automatic stock del sol would run the risk of being stolen?

Springs is asking for it.
Once they see its an auto they might walk away, but those body panels will still bring in a pretty pennyand they work on M/T cars. If you care about handling get some S-techs and performance shocks. Itll be a subtle drop that wont ask for too much. Oh, and get an alarm haha.

leave it as stock as possible. Even being too clean stock will get you some thieves as Arthas said, it will fit on M/T cars. For example there was that clean 92-93 White integra 4 door, clean front end and it was bone stock--stolen and recovered missing the front end.
The theft is always gonna be bad for us. There's always gonna be lazy f***s who won't buy their own stuff and cops who are more concerned about giving us lame tickets for exhaust noise instead of catching the lowlifes. One of these days we need to really teach these thieves a lesson ourselves.
Dude lol
My 92 Honda Civic LX got stolen. And it was probably the most piece of **** car I've ever had.
Had orange panels inside, driver side seat was broken, lots of dents all around the car - especially the front end, broken driver side corner light, rattle canned rear bumper, lowered on hub caps, dirty *** tan interior w/ black spray on the rear seats.
Yea, that **** got stolen.

My neighbors 93 accord (bone stock) was also stolen. Got it back crashed and interior pieces missing.
The problem with these cars is not just theft from other people from the import scene, but those who want to make a quick buck.
These vehicles are very easy to steal and the parts are in demand and can be sold fast and cheap. i.e. mechanical, body, interior, exterior parts
But, this also varies where you live and where you normally visit.
If its just a daily and dont care much for the whole "import scene", i would look at other vehicles. But it's your call and know that honda and acura are probably the best car one can buy on a low budget.
EDIT: After my post i scroll down a bit and see this thread. https://honda-tech.com/forums/southern-california-87/stolen-93-db1-los-angeles-323-a-2707711/
That should clear up your question.

^^^ Dam that sucks. Hopefully it comes back in one peice. Owning a honda with lack of a good security system is asking for trouble. Look at all the threads.
I am glad that I or should say we- just finished my brothers car a week ago. As soon as he went home that night they went for it. If we did not step up the security on the car. It would of been a big loss. And to think he was going to drive it home for one day with no alarm.

They will try to steal anything if they think they can use the parts or not. I seen 4 del sols stolen of this site. The last one was from a hospital in the ie. There is really no hot list. Swaps, rims, Headunits, bummpers or what ever they need are on the list. Its does not matter what kind of car that you have.
