Icon2 JDM engine importers?

Anyone know if there's a thread rating some of the importers of Japanese engines or has anyone written about their experiences (good or bad)? www.tigerjapanese.com ? I tried searching, but not finding anything. Wish we had some way of rating vendors on HT.

no no no

tiger is one of the worst jdm importers.

hmo is one of the best but also wants more than market value for almost everything. jdm engines corp has listings on ebay all the time and sells quality engines for competitive $. i've personally bought 2 motors from jdm engines and they both have quite a few miles on them with zero issues

Don't believe what you hear. Tiger is not that bad. I actually, just bought a B20b from them for $350. Came in, we tore it down, inspected everything, motor is brand new. Everything was in great condition, minus the cutting of the distributor wires and sensor wires. I don't know why they did that but they did, easy fix. Motor has less than 40k and runs stronger than ever. About to vtec it. Hmotorsonline are really good, and expensive because they warranty their motors. They also test compression and all. It's all about getting lucky maybe with Tiger. Other than that, good luck finding cheaper, reliable motors.

I noticed HMotorsonline was a little higher priced. Was just really looking for opinions and what experiences people have had. Thanks for the reply.

Generally, unless you go with either HMotorsOnline or PasswordJDM, you're taking a risk. Their engines are priced higher for a reason: They stand behind them.

There are several engine importers based out of Canada - particularly in Montreal and Toronto - that have a reputation for shipping out engines with obvious problems. That's not to say that you're guaranteed to get a bad engine from them, but there is a much higher probability with those companies than with HMO.

Always check the warranty details and make sure to ask them any questions you may have: http://www.tigerjapanese.com/index.p...d=18&Itemid=32

HMO are great! Excellent customer service and you gotta love their warranty.

DO NOT buy from TigerJapanese, DO NOT listen to anyone that says you should.

This is what they did to me...

https://honda-tech.com/forums/general-discussion-debate-40/tigerjapanese-buyer-beware-2580180/

Here is my "Buyer Beware" thread that the mods stickied for me in the GD section...not sure if it's stickied anymore, though.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/sales-feedback-157/attention-victims-tigerjapanese-2581123/

Steer clear of those scammers. If one or two people had a good transaction with them, they were among the very few lucky ones. This place has so many BBB/FTC/etc reports against them it's not even funny anymore. The first link I posted is a timeline of events, listing the many ways they screwed me throughout the whole deal. To this very day it was never resolved, they never once attempted to make it right...but the guy you'll likely speak to when ordering or complaining, Mike, was more than happy to call me a liar over the phone, and even threaten to sue me. Ask to speak to the owner, and he'll just do the same thing...call you names and make ridiculous lawsuit threats.

After they took my $700ish and sent me and old *** motor I didn't want, they tried to charge me another $300-400 so they could "have it picked up and brought back to the warehouse", then they were going to charge me half price($400ish) for the replacement motor that I originally ordered...meaning I would have paid up to $1600 for a 99-01 high-comp b20b that I should have received from that start. I am not the first, nor the fifth, nor the twentieth person they have done this to...google their name and be amazed at what you'll see, nothing but bad feedback.

some of their site prices are a little high. if you check their auctions on ebay you will see what they actually will sell shipped engines for. you just have to ask for ebay prices on the phone. they also compression test engines. i would never buy from any place that didn't. it's an easy test to make sure you don't have major damage.

here's their current list

Hmotors seems to get the most positive reviews of them all...but on the other hand, I recently read a thread where someone bought a motor and received what they ordered but apparently was blown. One of the cylinders had little to no compression so the motor needed to be rebuilt. The buyer contacted HMO and apparently they instantly got defensive and said it was inspected/passed, and that the buyer would have to pay out of his own pocket to return the motor...which is usually several hundred dollars, something a buyer shouldn't be responsible for if the motor wasn't as described at time of sale.

I've bought like 18 motors from Torontojdm.com for customer cars. They compression test them and free shipping..I'd highly recommend them.

hay all new to the forum and saw this thread. So what I am getting from this is that JDM engines corp is pretty good? the reason I ask is that there located in richardson, TX which is roughly a 40 minute drive from where I live. I have a 1992 honda accord EX and am planning on getting an h22a, JDM engine corp would be a good place to go check out?

Never heard anything bad about Hmotorsonline. If I was looking for a new motor, thats where I'd buy from.
