Default Engine Flooded

Shop just called and said it looks like I bent a valve and engines done. Quoted me 1500 with labor for engine swap. Should I just do that or is there a chance to save it by rebuilding it or swapping out the head? Thanks for any help. Its a B18C out of 95gsr.

dude I did a misshift and bent all exhaust valves. cost me like MAX 3 billd to get it on the road. Got used set of gsr valves for 40$. got a dude to put them in the head the RIGHT way fot $100. I put in new piston rings and timing belt and head gasket. DONT PAY THAT MUCH. do your research on Honda-tech and go for it!!!

It's possible that the valve dropped or broke and tore up the head and the block, in which case they're done. OP, are you comfortable pulling the head yourself and having a look? If the car is still in the shop you could also ask to see the damage yourself.

I made a mistake. The rods are bent from what he can see and hear not the valves. He hasnt taken the motor apart yet though.

if you got time and dont really need the car to drive right now, then I would take it back and start tarring the motor apart. Post pictures and things you notice so we can help along.

1500 for swapping the motor seems a bit extreme.

yep yep ask around cuz half of the guys/friends dealing with honda's/acura's will know how to tear the motor and rebuild it. Its not that super hard. Its a day of HT research and another day to tear apart and some time to find/order parts. 2-3 days max if you have parts and you really dont need machine shop(even though they are pretty quick)

Is that a replacement B18C WITH installation for $1500?? Sounds like a damn good deal to me, unless B18C's are just plentiful as water these days and cost next to nothing...

Could be tough for a B18C1. Why did they change their quote all of a sudden?
