So I found a Type-R down at a dealership that was recently stolen off the lot and all the interior was stripped except the dash, steering wheel, and carpet.
Everything else is still there including tail lights, wing, OEM ITR wheels and B18C5 motor.
Apparently the car has 89k km on it but some things in the car fax show that may be a little untrue but not sure yet.
The dealership is trying to sell the car for 6500 right now but I am going to try and bump them down more.
Is this worth it????

that's a great deal even at the ask price provided the car isn't thrashed. i know a lot of you guys like to play the price game, however, this car listed at 8,000 would still get a lot of attention. if you talked the seller down to 6500 you would feel really good right? it might be time to realize that it's already priced correctly and move on the deal.

yeah I think it was a good deal also but come to find out the carfax has the car at 103k miles last reported but the cluster only says 89k km. So it is not the OEM cluster
and yes the both front and back seats are gone along with the cd player and whole center console. The theives were kind enough to replace it with grey interior pieces :'(
But other then that it is great.

km is your first hint that it's a jdm cluster. i agree that mileage is an unknown. most jdm itr clusters get to the states with 50-75km on them. if you have 89 on yours at least you know the cluster hasn't been in there long.

definitely worth it! if the body is straight (never been in any major accidents) then i say GO FOR IT! you could make it nice for less than 3k of parts!

It's a 1998 ITR CW
I don't have pictures, I didn't get a chance to look at it today.
The body is straight with a theft and recovery title.
And they mentioned today they just got the car to turn on today since they got it back...odd.
But besides that it just looks like a complete CW ITR cept all the interior pieces are gone except the dash, cluster, and carpet.

Pictures and more information about the car itself would be helpful for us in deciding a good buying price.

I'll try and get some pics tomorrow but i'm pretty sure it is a 98, we looked up the vin number and everything.
But yeah i'm going to look at it tomorrow but I don't think a non moving type-r shell is worth 7500...that 5k sounded good haha

I actually heard about this too. A Buddy of mine told me about it. I was going to pick this but been real busy so i dont plan to. I think you should pick it up. 6 grand for a ITR is not a bad price at all.
with these that's more or less true. a 30k mile car from 97 is always worth more than an 80k car from 01. stock low mile examples are rare and wind up being the cars that pull 15,000+
in the first post you refer to it as being totally together minus seats and nick nacks

If all it needs is seats and a center console, I'd say do it.
You could pick up some JDM Recaros, front and rear, for around a $1000, the center console and HVAC controls go for like $250 on eBay.
You'd be into the car like 8500 bucks at most, I'd say forget posting pictures, just buy the damn thing!!!

i was only asking because. I felt there was a key piece of information missing in the opening post. If the caR were a 2001 R then my answer would be different than the caR being 1998. He had already told us the mileage for the car, but we didnt know what year it was. Did everyone else know it was a 98 R? but whatever.
$6,500 for a 98 R doesn't sound bad, and interior piece aren't too hard to get a hold of.
Im guessing another $1,000 for the the interior. Thats if everything checks out with the motor running. But if you can get every penny off, then do what you have to do.
PS. if the caR was stolen or broken into on the lot, wouldn't it be insured?
