Default STOCK TURBO TYPE R

This is my boring long story in short..... Just sold my Race Car, still have the bug in me to continue racing, or at least go have some fun at the track.

My stock Type R will be my new victim. (Yes I know I should have left it alone, but I can't, I love to be out there)

Just got me a new Percision T3/T4 Turbo 57trim set up.... Here are my questions hoping that someone here is familiar with Turbo set ups (I've been an all motor guy for the past 15 years)

How much HP I can squeeze out of this set up?

Motor is a STOCK B18C (not C5) no nothing on it.... NOTHING. Just a BDL Fuel rail, Fuel Regulator, Fuel pump (Walbro 255), RC 440 injectors (Might be small for this, but that is all I have at the moment) and a Hondata S-300

How much boost can this with hold?

Next question is 1/8 miles & 1/4 miles expectations, I will be running on slicks 24 1/2 X 8.5 15" Weld Wheels

Here are some pictures of the car....

On a built block B16 with 9.5:1 compression and a stock Type R head, my old civic put down 330whp at 14psi with the same exact turbine.

I would expect you to see around 300 whp range at about 10 pounds of boost on pump gas. I would boost over that without at least a piston/rod combo upgrade.

Also be very careful with the timing maps. Have your tuner be more conservative on that aspect.

As for 1/4 miles times, I wouldn't have the slightest idea where to start. There are just some many contributing factors

By "track", I assume you mean "strip"--as in a drag strip. Because if you build that car for something other than full-throttle runs for 14 seconds at a time, you need to look at everything with an entirely different set of modifications in mind.

How can your "stock" Type R not have a Type R motor in it?

I had basically same set-up as yours, bone stock motor
AFI turbo kit-57 trim, ramhorn mani-
S300
RC550
3" DP and exhaust with 3" vibrant exhaust
3.5 map sensor
Act clutch

I put down on pump gas 292 WHP and 197 TQ on 7 psi

Best E.T. on stock suspension and tires was 12.978 at 114mph

I had a Turbonetics T3/T4 in 57mm trim @ 8psi on a B18B that I salvaged out of a junkyard for $400 and hard daily drove the crap out of it for two and a half years before I sold it to another guy who is still driving the crap out of it.

That turbo is rated at 450hp, but you won't make it that far with 440cc injectors. With 440's you should expect about 280-330whp before you max them out.

My best advice is to ditch that manifold is get a good flowing one. You will see substantial reductions in spool time, increase overall power, and broader power band.

You will also reduce the exhaust reversion at high engine speeds with a tubular (non-log) manifold. Exhaust reversion equates to a higher propensity to detonate. A tubular manifold is a safer solution for a stock block B-series on pump-gas.

With stock blocks, the tune will have as much to do with the life of the motor as the parts you use. I would highly recommend using the S300's PWM output for electronic boost control. You can outfit a MAC solenoid to your S300 for less than $40. This will allow you to do boost by RPM and boost by gear, and have finer control of boost. Your trouble spot will be between 4000 and 6000, when you come on to boost hard. This is where most stock block B-series engines fail. Wastegate placement is also important when preventing boost spikes in this RPM region.

Looks clean, I used to not be a big fan of ITRs, but I think the CW ones are growing on me.

I WILL BE BOOSTING MY ITR VERY SOON... THE GUY FABBING UP MY TURBO KIT ASKED HOW MUCH POWER I WANTED TO MAKE AND I SAID AT 430WHP ON A STOCK ITR TUNED ON E85 AND AROUND 330WHP ON PUMP.. I MADE 297WHP @ 8PSI ON A STOCK GSR A FEW YEARS BACK AND THIS MOTOR IS ALOT HEALTHIER SO IM SURE IT CAN BE DONE...

I've heard it could be done as well, but isn't the compression too high? 11:5:1 - I want to add a block guard and a thicker head gasket before I go over 8lbs.

B18C compression is 11:1.

just throwing in a block gaurd is a horrible idea. search, im sure you will get a million hits.

You can absolutely make 430whp on an internally stock ITR, for a couple weeks.

Why a horrible idea? Everyone I talked too: 1 Either has it and has no problems with it. 2: Tell me that is the best way as it rienforces the sleeves?????

then do it right, he is just going to ridicule you harder when you blow past him then coat his car with oil as you send a rod out of the block.

300whp on a stock internal b-series is pushing it for reliability. It's MUCH cheaper to do it right once, trust me. Just because your "tuner" has a stock gsr motor at 380whp doesn't mean that's good, any number punchin fool can do that. I've seen a stock sr20 make 680whp, that is when the wastegate line blew off and it soaked the dynojet with a fresh dose of 4 quarts.
