Default GSR block - LS crank/rods w/ 84mm bore

Has anyone driven with a GSR block with LS crank/rods and 84mm bore (sleeved), while everything else was stock or close to stock?

How's the drive? Were there problems with VTEC engaging because of the oil squirter? Did you go as far as getting it tuned? Did you have to upgrade the fuel injectors and airflow? Problems with passing smog in California? Reliability? In your personal opinion, do you regret it or do you feel it was worth it? If so why? etc..etc...

Did a lot of research....at this point...I'm justing looking for input and personal experiences which I feel is important.

Ok first of do you know what the oil squirters do???

Because if you think they have anything to do with vtec engaging then find out what they do first

LOl sounds like an outline for an essay.

Your basically talking about a 2 liter gsr, meaning it's the same thing as a b20vtec. As for the oil squirters they don't make any difference.

Do you? (cooling pistons) I've read posts of cranks being "allegedly" scarred and VTECs not engaging due to possible loss in oil pressure after messing around (plugging or bending) the squirters.

Simply wanted to get someone's input.

Ok oil squirters just point up at the cylinder wall, they purpose is oiling the pistons and wrist pin. They were only precautionarily due to the engine being designed to rev high. It does not hurt to plug them, I have one right now in my shop. Its a bone stock gsr block with stock ls internals, and a homeade plug kit. It lives at 9 grand simply because I dont give a **** about it one of my friends got his *** kicked with the sad *** d16 turbo so i took a bunch of my old parts and just put it together as cheap as possible. We have had no problems. Oh and it driven daily on 17 psi. I'm really surprised it hasnt given up yet.

And where did you read that crap?! Why would you lose oil pressure by plugging holes that spray oil? That makes no sense. No it does not lose oil pressure. But good luck with the build. I dont know about your smog issue, but if it is properly tuned and you dont tamper with it afterwards you should be fine.
