Default New ap2 / asura exhaust

So on friday i picked up a 06 GPW with 32k miles. Decided to skimp 1000$ on my downpayment to pick up an exhaust.

After a lot of research / listening I found that the asura gave me an aural orgasm. So I immediately contacted asura for pricing. While I don't have the exhaust yet, I have this to say:

They might have the best customer service I've ever seen (in any market), and I don't even have the unit yet. Literally every e-mail I have sent off has been responded to in an hour, and this is during the weekend. Like I told asura, as if the unit itself didn't already have me sold, their customer service would have sold me. A++++

Edit: I can't find any videos of the asura exhaust note under load. As soon as I get mine on, I will definately throw up a video with it idle / free rev / drive by

Here are some pictures asura sent me. Unreal quality.

Edit: I found cruising / driving sound clips.

How much did he quote you? Is it a 70 mm? Works for N/A setup?

Prices are $995 shipped for 3" dual round tips, and $1295 shipped for 3" oval tips. from his e-mail

I've heard their great on N/A's, but also allow 600whp s2k's enough flow to breathe o.O

ye he answered my email..but im surprised that just a change in the tip would be such a difference in price. he sent me pics as well... looks really nice. But i was assuming the prices were going to be cheaper than say the T1R... for ovals its the same price as the T1R but less gain on a dyno. T1R went from 206.8 to 220.1 WHP. Thats a 13.3 gain over stock. The Asura said possibly up to 12WHP gain. So im stuck on decisions. if it was alot cheaper i would grab it. But for the same price, i would have to take that extra 1.3 WHP

You talking about the single or the dual sparrow? because of course the single would make more hp over duals

I have been running the Asura dual 3 inch and the exhaust rocks. Very well made and flows well too.

I'm not a s2ki member, but I was doing a lot of research on the boards. I've realized you're a well respected member of their community sideways so I'm definately going to take your word for it (but i was already sold before haha).

btw here's my ap2 I picked up

Ahhh gotcha. Ya I looked at those too. I can admit they definitely sound good, however just not exactly the note I was going for :D. Whatever whp difference there is (good or bad), is worth it to me for the exhaust note alone

I just ordered it today. Asura told me 3-4 days to make it, and 2-3 days to get it up here. Im hoping by next tuesday I'll have it on, but sooner would always be better haha. I appreciate it. It's got all stock suspension as far as I'm aware. The dealer didn't say anything, and without getting under the car I see nothing to indicate otherwise.

I wasn't planning on buying a car until this summer, but last thursday I saw it on autotrader and told myself the chances of finding another unabused low mileage white ap2 would be really hard. So i picked it up friday haha. I appreciate the compliment :]! Going from an 05 sentra 1.8s to the s2000 is one helluva difference

That's what I said... But Asura said it's a time consuming n laborious process for the oval tips... I'm waiting to see the exhausts on the car. Might go with round to save $300 n get springs.

I'll definately post pics and video's when it comes and I can get ahold of a decent camera/recorder. Iphone pics prolly won't do it justice :p

I'll see if I can get ahold of a dyno as well, my roomate is a mechanic and his dad owns a high end shop. He's able to get access to all sorts of stuff for free.

As per asura:

"I have one from about July-August of 2008. I tried to find the file, but no luck.
The car made 255WHP/181TQ with just the 3" Exhaust, on a stock header stock cat and stock intake (F22C) I tuned the car with an AEM EMS.

Most cars on the same dyno make 237-240WHP in stock form."

No gains?

.. is probably the key bit there, but still a nice exhaust i reckon. not many make much in the way of gains so you may as well go lighter and noisier! Rolled tips on an oval are difficult to do, that's why most aftermarket oval tips are just cut metal. WHich is why i ended up welding my AP2 tips on to my HKS.

Yea i totally understand. I'll just have to see the #'s when it gets here (if I can get on a dyno for free and/or cheap :p).

from research stock ap2's are pretty dead on in terms of their a/f / timing maps. But modifying airflow untuned will definately kink those numbers a bit. Bank of america has made my life absolute hell with this transaction. After 4 hrs of phone calls to BoA, i said **** you and hung up. Decided to go through paypal (Why I didnt think of that before I spent hours on the phone is a story that's summed up as me being retarded). But through the whole mess Asura has been absolutely amazing at keeping me posted, and communicating through this mess. Which is a nice change in the way a lot of businesses seem to be ran nowadays. Regardless of # results and price, I know I'm going to drool from the exhaust note and I'm happy I gave asura my money :]

Not for me. My post from over at S2KI:

I'm having fitment issues, but instead of a bent hanger it looks like one of the hangers was welded on about 2 inches further along the pipe relative to the one on the other side. Haven't had a chance to take pictures yet but hopefully I'll do so this weekend. Got a dyno today after having a baseline dyno last week. This is a bone stock '08 with 700 (yes 700) miles on it and it was broken in properly for the first 600 miles. Only modification has been the exhaust.

A whopping SAE-corrected 0.36 WHP gain. That's $3,597 per HP. Pretty disappointed overall with 1TR Sparrow Dual.

you'll get that on an S - they do also reckon that for every 11lbs saved, it is similar to gaining 1hp in terms of performance (think it was 11 anyway), so you may have gained more..

^^ you made my decision to get the Asura that much easier...thanks! lol... i wish i could just buy the exhaust and gain 20-30 whp like i did on my WRX with a turbo back exhaust... oh well at least now i will enjoy the sound from the exhaust...

with my tax return money i think im going to buy the Asura Rounds with the 70mm resonated Test Pipe...
