Default Q's about sidemouldings

I have a 96 DC4 RS with the black sidemouldings and I want to get them painted the color of my car (frost white) but the owner of a bodyshop said that if I get them painted that the paint will flake off. Is this true and if this is true how much does the dealer charge for frostwhite sidemouldings for a 96 Teg? Thanks!

well, they do come painted on some models starting some year, but they'll charge u an arm and a leg for those at the dealer. It'd probably be easier for u to just have it painted somewhere professionally, and i think if u prep it properly i don't htink it would flake off, but can't be sure. Inquire at a different place and see what they say.

From the dealer about 175 EACH side. I have a 97 RS and was in the same position you are right now. The side mirrors alone are about 180 each I believe.

Remember that the purpose of moldings is to take "hits for your car" so to speak.

What I did and probably cheapest way:
I got a hold of a guy who totalled his 97 LS. I bought his side mirrors, door moldings for 100~150 shipped....OEM factory paint in very good condition. Doesn't get better than that.

Only downside, the stupid f**ks at UPS bent the moldings so there are some minor gaps between the molding and door. bastards

Is this the price for the non-painted ones or just the painted ones? My non-painted ones on my 94 LS are all crummy looking now.

I think it was for the painted ones. I'd try a junkyard first. Or try the Best Buy forum where they have a list of all vendors dealing OEM parts.

Carland Acura wants about 85 for each moulding for the unpainted ones. That's still too much as far as I'm concerned. I'll look for some at a junkyard on a wrecked Integra. Anyone know how hard it is to put the new ones in?
