Default Wheel Bearings (maybe)

I searched around a bit and found some info regarding wheel bearings. I have a 2000 accord 2.3l, and I am not sure of, but believe the front wheel bearings are bad. I jacked the car up and tried to wiggle the tires to see if there was any play in them, but they seem to be fine. At speeds above 20mph there is a droning/humming noise that seems to be coming from under the front of the car. When I place it in nuetral the noise is still there. The noise gets louder the faster I go. The car has about 73,000 miles on it. I also tried to turn the car in different directions, but there seems to be no change in sound.

Any ideas?

Have someone more experienced drive it, that'll be your best bet. We can't hear the sound of your car through your written text.

From what you described it sounds like a wheel bearing. I know the grab and shake your wheel test isnt always accurate, just turn your wheel while you have it jacked up and listen for any grinding or metal-to-metal contact.

that's some pretty low mileage for bearing trouble.

i would try to rule out a brake related issue first. do you know the condition of the brakes?

Brakes look good, at least a quarter inch of pad left.

Are you referring to the outside pad or the inner pad?

The inner pad is where the wear indicators are attached; additionally, the piston pushes against the inner pad, so the inner pad wears a little faster than the outer pad.

Do not rule out a bad tire. Swap it to the opposite corner or put the spare on.
