Drove a SVT Focus today.....
Nice power and decent handling but crappy components.....usual Ford stuff I guess. I love hearing them try to tell me the car is better than my type R!!

Yep...they were trying to more or less. Them main one they used on me was "Focus has sold more than Acura in the past three years". lol
The car is good but would be great if it weighed 2400 lbs or so. Ford needs to learn about power to weight ratio. I don't know what made Ford decided to put big heavy rims and brakes on a car that doesn't have that much power to begin with.
I give them a big
for making the car
I'm sure the next revision of it will be much better.

i use to work at a ford dealership around me ,an we had 2 svt focus's an they are slower than ****, the shifter feels like *** , it sounds like a ******* weedwacker, it sounds so hollow it weighs a ton with its power, heated seats 2 amp 2 sub 6 speaker sound system and its horribly designed transmission , an it costs as much as a type r with the dealer markups the dealerships are putting on the svt's, at my old dealership they had the smallest an it was 5 grand on top of the 19,999 sticker price that was almost non negiotable,
on the focus svt, go buy a real car

But can they claim the Focus is the "most stolen vehicle?" I think not.
(It has to be good for something.)
The SVT focus is definately not a Type R. But i think it waxes the overall competition in all round performance. Even the Nissan Spec V, which I thought dominated that segment (~20kUSD) was outlapped by the SVT in a head to head shootout by Road and Track.
So mad props for SVT for making it...probably one of Fords Best products, although I would put my money on the Mazdaspeed Protege now. (we're only talking new cars now right?)
Btw, just our of curiosity, how do you guys think the Spec V, SVT Focus, Mazdaspeed Protege, RSX-S, and GTS celica would compare performance wise?

want a car with an excellent suspension and speed...get a spec v. i would love to have one over a wrx or svt focus (maybe even a type r).
you my friend, need to put down the crack pipe.
Sentra Spec V= not groovy
WRX, ITR **** on spec v's when properly driven
rob- who would definately rock a Lightning or 03 Cobra, despite the Ford name
I haven't driven the Mazdaspeed Protege, but have driven the rest and the RSX-S is clearly the better car of the bunch (excluding the Protege which I haven't driven yet).

Yeah....pretty much the only SVT or Ford product I would have would be the '03 Cobra. But the mark up on those is about 5-6k over the sticker which is pretty much ridiculous being that hmmm....well let me see...it's a FORD!!!
LOL
LOL
yes........i would sell my first born for a 03 cobra, and **** all over everyone....including type r's.
What is the spec of this svt focus - In the UK we have the ST170 and soon the Focus RS which is a turbo'd 2 ltr Zetec (200+bhp) with LSD etc. They sound quite good but I've not read enough impartial media coverage yet

(the medias first impressions of these new car's is always good so they can get hold of a long term test car
)
