They check for this in Lafayette? Why don't you do it regardless...it doesnt state the interior color on the title so WTF?

 

The reason is for drilling out the rivets and having to put new ones in it. Believe me, cops are trained on what kind of rivets should be used. If I can just pull the title out of my glove box, thats enough proof for them.

So......... somebody takes a..........stolen CRX and swaps the dash with VIN # with one that has a clean title and now its all good. Not saying it did happen, just saying it could happen.

 

I know plenty of people that have done full interior swaps and the cops or anyone never noticed. I live by Chicago where theres a shitload of retagged cars being sold left and right and the cops never do anything... Not to mention, I've gotten plenty of interiors from the local pick n pull and they dont give you titles even if you ask for them...

Lafayette isnt anywhere close to being like Chicago...I was working in Downtown West Lafayette at the Velasquez Star Muffler over the summer and the cops never gave me **** and we're talking about a bald headed mexican in a slammed CRX with HID's. I was the only car that was tuckin tires and blinding people at night lol.

 

No sir. This isn't for anything illegal. The reason I asked for the title was because my last crx project I got was from florida. The car didn't run when I went to title it so that made me have a state cop come to my house to do a vin check because of it being from out of state. My title was legit and was true for the car, but I swapped a black dash I bought into it, to get rid of the blue interior. When the cop did the inspection, he got all shitty because the vin on my dash didn't match my vins on the car or title. He said that it would be illegal for me to swap the vins on the dash unless I kept the dashes original title and vin plate in the car to prove it was a legit vin swap. Hence the reason I asked for a title. I can't afford to get my car out of impound if a cop ever gets shitty about it.

I did a VIN swap on my friends DB7 with some autozone rivets and he had his car checked and the cops havent noticed to this day...Just sayin tho dude. GL

yeah...i swapped a crx dash in my 91 dx hatch...and i just used autozone rivets...and i had to get the car inspected for a rebuilt title and it was no questions asked

 

Just wait to find someone that is parting out a crx, or just buy a junker to take the title and dash from.

 

i swapped a dash in my car. i used allen screws to put my vin back on it. its alot easier to take off if needed later on. never had a problem when pulled over?

 

Cops are too stupid. They wont check, I bet I wouldn't notice a VIN swap that doesn't have OEM style rivets...Now if you give them a reason too check, than thats a different story. If they're giving you **** about it then something was either fukked up on the car and not reported; Odometer numbers dont match; Out of state car with obvious body work; Salvaged car; ect...
