im 16 i drive a 86 hatch 1.3 liter... the carb is messed up so it wont pass emissions... so i did some looking around for a new carb... there about $500 so i figured for that much money i could look around for a different motor thats fuel injected and would get better gas milege and pass emissions... so my question is what would i need to buy(other than the engine)to switch it fuel injected?? thanks..

 

Make sure that whatever you buy comes complete with Engine Control Unit (ECU) and an associated wire harness and sensors. You'll need a new fuel pump that bumps fuel pressure much higher than the one you most likely have. (Fuel injection requires fuel delivered at much higher pressure than carbs.) I'm prolly missing something here, but I'm sure some other knowledgeable people will chime in as well.

 

COnverting to f/i + swap will cost at least 5x that and take 50x the time, these cars are not as swap friendly as '88 up
