What about trying to remove every screw you can get to, including the armrest ones, then carefully peeling the top of the panel down where it hooks over the top edge by the glass. If you can get the top unhooked you should be able to reach the lock mechanism and pop it witha screwdriver. Then you can get the panel off and back on again.

I'm not so sure this is going to work it's only probably a 1/4" between the door panel and dash and I think if I can't get the whole panel the actuator is going to be in the way of the latch. I'll give it a try though when I actually get access to a heated garage. Bah gotta love Maine. Thanks for the advice

i'm not sure if you can get the panel off (even just the top) with the door closed. you have to pull the whole panel off about a quarter of an inch to get the top part off. sorry i dont have any ideas to help

thanks anyways cstone ya I highly doubt there is a 1/4 inch between the dash and the door I guess no one has tried the drilling through the back side where u supposedly can just flip the latch after doing this

Fixed.

I meant up not off. It may be possible but I don't really think so. You may damage the panel trying to do it. I haven't ever heard of the drilling technique.
