mysterious CEL 73 on GSR
-copied from tech forum in hopes for a reply-
Ok i went drag racing about a month ago and must have over-reved the motor by shifting into 2nd instead of 4th. The motor started ticking more than usual (haven't had a valve adjustment in a while) and it was throwing a CEL. I brought it home and pulled a CEL 73 which happens to be the infamous "cylinder 3 missfire"
Today i decided to check out the motor armed with a leak-down tester and a compression tester.
The leakdown on cylinder #3 came to show a 5% pressure decay and i couldn't hear any air leaking from anywhere except a very little around the sparkplug threads where the hose wasn't seated. The compression test registered at 190 psi for cylinder #3 while the other 3 cylinders registered around 195 psi.
As far as I can deduct the internals of cylinder #3 are pretty acceptable.
I also inspected the plugs and made sure the #3 plug was getting spark. The #3 sparked fine but with a orange tinge to the spark color.
I put it all together, cleared out the ECU and took it for a test drive. Same ticking and when I pulled into the driveway the CEL came back on again.
All signs point to a bent valve but the diagnostics don't really prove that, and I'd hate to pull the head to find out it was something else.
Can somebody please help, am I forgetting something?
Thanks in advance

Well I did the same thing I shift from 5th to 2nd going 70mph and I bent my valves. If theres a ticking im sure theres a valve or two bent.
