Please help what engine do I have? very strange!!
Hi All
I have a UKDM Integra type r with what looks like a JDM type r engine but cant be sure, the block numbers look wrong here are the numbers:
B18C (the UK engine should be B18C6)
Block Number: 1007682 (what the hell?)
P73 -HM
Build Date 16/12/97
It could be that I have a ITR head with a SIR bottom end/long block?
here's a pic of the engine:

I can post more pics if needed
Thanks
Andy

From the looks of it, you probably have a JDM type R engine.
Though there is no way to know 100% for sure if the B18C bottom is the Type R version or standard without looking at the pistons/rods/crank.
The block itself is identical.
A good way to get a general idea though is by looking at the oil filter. OBD2 B18C standard has no oil cooler, where as the B18C type R does. While this doesn't guarantee, just makes it very likely. On a standard B18C, the oil fil
Hope this helps.
Here is a regular B18C (see how the oil filter would directly contact the block?)

Here is what yours should look like (see the hoses and the metal object between the block and the oil filter?)

Many thanks Irev210, I do have an oil filter, by the looks of it its an Denso Oil filter?? if that makes any sense. Although if the engine was swapped then they could of esily taken the oil filter off the type r engine. Would be able to tell me where I could find the large transmission brace? I was told this would be a way to find out if the bottom was a type r by the part number of this?
Thanks again

I'm going to assume you bought the car with the turbo conversion already done, so its probably safe to assume that the previous owner either bought the engine & turbo conversion together, fitted them and sold his original engine, OR blew his original engine when he turbo'd it, bought a replacement engine and swapped over the turbo conversion.
I have checked and it look's like I do have an oil cooler. It appears to be a Type R engine just cant be sure because of the Block number being different to the rest of the type R's mentioned on this site. Mugenracer you are right with you second point. I got the car with the turbo conversion already on there on the understanding the last engine blew up because the previous owner thrashed it from cold to 9000rpm and there was a problem with the oil sump...........engine got swapped over and here I have it. Why did I buy the car with history like this? because I got it really really cheap. Anyway I knew it would be a challenge to get it sorted but taking my time and will get there eventually! and yes I believe it will be worth it in the end....
I think you may be correct, having read several threads on ITR-DC2 forum it seems that early 96spec engines started with 19XXXXX (probably the hand ported/polished engines before they changed to machine polished/ported) and late 96spec and all 98/00 spec engine numbers started with 2XXXXXX.
I've just checked up old paper work for the 3 JDM Si-VTECs i owned and all of their engine numbers were B18C 10XXXXX so it seems you may have an Si/SiR bottom end.
