1999 acura- oil in my coolant
My son purchased this vehicle a short time ago. Its the 4 cylinder with v-tec. Shortly after the purchase his vehicle overheated and he noticed oil in the coolant overflow and coolant cap area. I pulled the head thinking it was the head gasket. It was warped according to the engine guy who milled it, but it was not that bad he said. I put the head back on and it started fine, but gave a 1259 code shortly there after. I've tried to trouble shoot the vtec system without figuring out the problem, seems to be intermittant as it will reset with the 3000 rpm for two second test. But now the main problem seems to be that the oil is continuing to fill into the coolant overflow. My son said he added 3qts to the engine since we put the head back on. He also noted the coolant overflow had about 6-7 inches of oil on top of the coolant last time he checked. So what other than the head gasket/warped head would cause that much oil to enter the coolant area. No coolant appeared to be in the oil.
If you have oil in coolant, you have a blown head gasket, cracked head or a cracked block your mechanic should do a compression test to determine what it is either way it is not cheap fix unless you can do it yourself. Could also maybe be a failed intake manifold gasket.

Depending on how much it overheated, a head gasket may not fix the problem. Aluminum heads warp when overheated, Since you will have the head off, check for trueness, and if out have it milled.
