Puting rear disc breaks on my 92 civic cx
I have a Honda civic hatchback it's a 92 cx and I doesn't have rear disc breaks we are planning on puting some on from a accord ex but do I need to put in a different proportioning valvue than I have for my civic with rear drums?
is ther anythng else I need to know about switching the brakes
Thanks for answering so quickly we decided to stick with the accord and I probably would have been more trouble than it's worth

94 prelude's have a differnet lug pattern 4x114... your bubble is 4x100 unless you did the conversion up front all ready but I doubt that. You need to do a lot more research man
Seriously?
I just keep on seeing more and more NEW people on HT everyday. Notice I didn't say noob.
But yes, if you'd like to do the swap properly, pretty sure you need a 40/40, don't quote me on it though. ALSO, if you want a proper swap, find discs that will work.

the OP edited his post, he originally was asking about swapping accord rear discs into his 92 civic cx. unfortunately, neither the accord or 94 prelude rear discs will work on your civic. i get worried when i see posts like this...your brakes are a serious matter, it could mean the difference between life death. i'm not trying to be harsh, but i get the sense you're not sure about what you're doing. i'm saying this because many would flame you for posting this. with that being said, here's the knowledge:
any 90-00 civic si/del sol/crx or 90-01 integra w/ rear discs, will bolt-on to your 92 civic cx w/ drums. once you source your rear disc conversion, you'll need to grab the entire trailing arms & e-brake cables. make sure you have rear brake hoses from a rear disc, the drum lines are too short.
*if you get a rear disc from 88-91 civic/crx, 92-95 civic, 94-01 integra; the rear lca's interchange and won't give you alignment issues, BUT if you happen to find a rear disc from a 90-93 integra or 96-00 civic, just simply re-use your 92 civic lca's w/ the rear disc. as for the valve prop, just source one from any non-abs integra (or civic) w/ rear discs (ie; 93-97 del sol si, 92-95 civic si, 94-00 integra RS, etc)
before you swap, make sure you have new washers for the brake lines & a 10mm flare wrench (to remove and install brake lines without stripping it). check the condition of the calipers, pads & rotors (inspect the conditon of the bushings as well). once you drop the drum brake trailing arm out, the rear disc will bolt right up. once greased your bolts & bled your brakes, it's a good idea to get the car re-aligned.
btw, your brakes are only as good as your tires...

I agree with ^. Your brakes are something you shouldn't guess on. Converting that car to rear disc is easy with the right parts. Haven't heard of a rear disc from a Accord though....I would just stick with the proven conversion. It's really easy-did it on 2 of my cars, definently worth it. Just get the right parts. Best of luck to you!!!
