Default b16 a2 swap into a 96 hatch questions and problems

just swapped a 99 b16a2 engine into my96 civic hatch and got some problems with it.. i used the 99 si civic wire harness and ecu. but there are 2 wires hanging. one wire by the speedo and one wire by the manifold and have no clue where those plug to.i double checked everything and plugged everything but those two wires dont seem to coneect to anything and also my cluster is not workin at all like the rpm doesnt work and the speed doesnt work when i drove it around. also my vtec doesnt work.. do i need to do any vtec wiring since it used to be a d series? any ideas whats wrong? could it be form those two wires hanging or could it be from something else? so my main question is since the rpm and speed doesnt work does that cause my vtec not to work cause those two wires hanging? or do i need to switch to a different wire harness? and if i use my old y7 harness can i still use the 99 ecu or do i need a different ecu?

You are going to have to use a 96-98 engine harness unless you switch out your entire floor harness to a 99-00 to use with the 99-00 engine harness. And, you will have to either use a 96-97 del sol vtec ecu, or a jumper to obd1 and use a chipped p28 or p72, etc. with a program for the b16

Im planning to do my engine swap soon and I have a similar question. Im swapping a 99 SI engine into my 96 dx hatch and i was wondering, since I'll be using the 99 SI engine harness and 99 SI ECU will there be anything I need to do? Any additional wiring?

If you have a obd2a ( 96-98 ) your best option is to use the current harness in your car if EX and if plain not vtec then run the Vtec solenoid wiring.

If you have the OBd2b ( 99-00 civic Si DOHC computer ) then run a obd2b to obd2a harness and your set.

--the two harness might seem the same but as stated above you would have to swap the full wire harness inside also wich isnt as easy as what is recommended above.
