Default New Socal Race Track Public Hearing on February 6th

I'm not sure how many people already knew about this here. I'm sure most of the racers know about it already but same may not. I think it's important to get this out there if there is any chance of the project succeeding... Send in those letters and try to make time for the hearing. It's going to be in Palmdale/Lancaster.

This is pretty old news and there have not been any more new news on this except for more meetings.
If you ask me this is going the same route the Riverside Motorsports park went.
Nowhere.

To my knowledge the Riverside Motorsports Park is in full swing but it's nowhere near the proposed size of this one. The Riverside "Park" is more like an autocross course I think? There are events every Thursday night...

Are you talking about Adams Motorsports Park?

According to Wikipedia

"On 7/24/2009, track officials have declared the RMP project dead citing that the property is in foreclosure and that they owe more money on the property than what it is currently worth."

Yeah that's what I was referring to.

So this is all for nothing then? Ofcourse it's not going to get picked up then...

I'm not the financier of the park so I don't know if they're in debt up to their eye ***** but the amount of opposing letters to this new project has gone up drastically since the 1st meeting according to what I've read so far. What do you think will happen at the 2nd meeting if there is no change to the amount of supporting documents and nobody shows up to support? Obviously it won't go anywhere.

Two Years ago Riverside bought the Altamont Speedway in Tracy in the hopes to make it a satellite track until they got Riverside up and running.
However they failed to keep it open despite putting some almost 2 million dollars in improvements to the facility.
The county allowed them to run the park for one year with an expired permit. But only during daylight hours.
The permit wasnt renewed because Riverside didnt like the daytime only restrictions, complaints by neighbors and further improvements might hurt local wildlife. Needless to say it got ugly

Fair enough but Riverside and Palmdale/Lancaster couldn't be any more different. City streets and homes everywhere as opposed to a city with open desert all around.

A racetrack in Riverside is like Disneyland in Burbank.

I have watched 3 different perposals in three different locations go down in flames.
Unless the owner/developer have alot of money and plenty of local support.
I hate to sound pessimistic but the chances are slim.
We can always hope though.

BTW, Willow Springs is right next door to Lancaster. Wouldn't that make it more difficult to build another track in that area. I definitely wouldn't mind because I make the trek from norcal and wouldn't mind a new track to try out.

Right next to the Speedway is a moto X track...
I believe the house that got built next to the speedway within sight of the freeway is also owned by the people who own the moto X track.

They tried to sue the RMP saying they were flying planes over their house on purpose.
Or something to that effect.
None the less the theory is the moto X owners wanted to get their hands on the speedway for their own...
