the intake side will be ported and polished slightly, and if it still has factory springs they will be dual valve springs, itr ctr and b16 heads are made from the same casting
so your saying that the itr head has dual intake springs or both intake and exhaust?? and the others dont??
both intake and exhaust springs are dual (IE an inner and outer spring) B16 only has dual intake spirngs if I remember correctly. you can also look at the cams to identify assuming they have not been swapped out previously.

Get it double springs. light weight valves ans type R cams and there is no differance betwene the 2 head exept for the R spec one that is lightly ported at the bothom of the valves seat by honda...
You can also look for the yellow or green paint on the dist leg side of the head on the top surface. All R heads have the paint unless someone has "cleaned" the paint off with a harsh cleaner.
Well I had a couple of B16 heads and they had Pr3 stamped on the exhaust side and a friend of mine had a type R motor and his head was stamped P73
Your friend is completely wrong. His HEAD is stamped PR-3. His INTAKE manifold was most likely where he saw the P73 stamp. The R heads are all slightly worked (intake side ports only) B16 castings. There were none with "P73" casting numbers.
Correct, As stated earyler in this thread the ITR and B16a heads are identical castings. The valve springs would be the first place to look, then cams, then paint. It will be very hard to tell the porting, b/c you just dont know if someone has already ported a stockb16a head.
For the cams if you can show a pic with the end of the cams then the Grooves will tell you GSR b17a/ 94B18c / Si-R 1st/2nd or Integra JDM 96/USDM type R 2001/ CTR

MISTAKEAlmost every things from a type R is bether exept retainers that is all same LOL
just ripped open my motor, found out that it has itr cams by looking at the end of it.
still cant tell if its a b16 head or itr cause i cant see the valve springs.
it has green on the intake side springs, does that mean anything??
