I have a JDM ITR in my 92 CX. Its fun, but I want more power. It depends on what you plan to do with the motor if it will be worth the extra money. I'd like to go FI, so I would have been better off with a different motor, but its too late now. My best time was a 13.8 at 100mph on shitty NT450s.

Hey man nice setup you got there. Yo I plan to be running a similar setup in the near future, although I want to get a 98+ JDM B18CR and not a C5. I was just curious because in your sig you said you ran a 12.8, that is pretty damn impressive with only those mods you have. Did you do alot of weight reduction or run on slicks? If not that is one impressive time you got there, and makes me even more motivated to get my R sooner. for you.

yo man that is very impressive then. Do you have any 1/4 mile times with either full interior and street tires, or just street tires will do. I am interested in seeing what the car will run on the street without slicks. I am very interested only because I am basically gonna have a pretty similar setup as you.

thanks those are some pretty good times considering its not fully built or piece together just a stock motor with some cams very impressive and you get that great type R tranny. can't go wrong

***Raises Hand***

I have one and I would not trade it for any other set-up.

Mine ran 13.3@99mph on baby **** M/T slicks with a 4.929FD from ATS. The combo of short slicks and super short FD killed my top end.

that time was also ran at 1100ft. above sea level - corrected that's a 13.0.

This is a USDM B18C5 with only mods being:

AEM CAI for 99 Si
Tanabe RD exhaust for 1992 Civic
Re-chipped "Kenji" P28 ECU
ATS 4.929 ClutchNet clutch

I still have the stock USDM cast-iron exhaust manifold!

A header, install my V-AFC, and get it tuned and I'll see high 12's no problem.

I'll try to find my breakdown of why buying a B18C5/B18C (R) is more cost effective than building a B18C1/GS-R motor - if you can afford the hit up front it's well worth it.

I have a 96' JDM ITR motor(B18C-Spec R).
It has an APC intake(works just as good as others).
DC 4-1 Headers
Apexi Worldsport exhaust
Kenji P28 ECU
Stock steel wheels w/ hubcaps(sLEEpeR yO)
$30 kumho tires
With this setup in my 94 Si hatch(2400lbs), i got 14.3@98mph.(1100ft elevation, didnt launch b/c of horrible tires(1500rpm)).

It now has falken azenis on 94/95 GSR wheels so i hope to improve my times b/c i can actually launch now.

what are you waiting on, the difference between a tuned and untuned itr is phenominal, what header do you plan on getting?
and how do you correct hp?
i hit 196 on 16 inch wheels, how does that decipher
What am I waiting on?

MONEY.

I'll probably go with a CompTech 4-2-1 header because it's still straight bolt-on and it did extremely well in the huge-*** header test conducted by H-T members a while back.

It outperformed the Honda JDM 4-1 yet it still has the 2'' collector. I'm lazy, what can I say? I don't feel like running a 2.5'' collctor if my stock ITR cat still has 2'' inlets.

...And yes I understand a tuned ITR motor is much better - that's why I'm so stoked that I already hit 13.3 at such a crappy altitiude.

Here we go again. Ok, Tom (B18C5-EH2) owns a B18C5 in a 92 CX and loves it. Straight up swap, this is, uh, as we say *da shizzat*.

I own a supercharged B18C1. Dis too, is *da shizzat*. But, it took me $1000 in computer and injectors, and $2500 in supercharger to pull ahead of a B18C5 swap. Tom would take me in a straight drag, though. Why? Full interior in my car with heavy roadracing brakes and suspension with chassis stiffeners, and I outweigh Tom by at least 100lbs.

GSR motors are "more workable" as you say, because there's so far to go to make it to B18C5 land, and they are a cheaper starting point if you're going to do some big time stuff (especially if you even dream of doing any big time boost and plan on rebuilding the bottom end).

But, B18C5's are the best place to start for a Honda hatch. By far. Coming from a B18C1 owner. Trust me.
