I tried hammering the **** outta it for an hour, no good so... whats better

yeah the problem with that is, all my ratchets are round lol not squarish

go to an auto parts store and rent a set ball joint separator forks, some people call them "pickle" forks. i ended up just buyin a cheap set to get me by from Harbor Freight for like $8. youve just gotta be careful to not tear up the boot that keeps grease in and road grime out. hope this helps

While hammering the lower control arm, with a big sledge hammer, have someone else apply pressure with a pry bar between the lower control arm and the knuckle assembly. I just went through this myself this week.

you can use anything that fits there. it does not have to be a rachet.

i used a fork to seperate the ball joint, the boot ripped :[
