Shiniest black ever
my car ready for paint this week, civic 98 LS, i was thinking about s2k berlina black or keep the original paint Flamenco black, but i want something really shiny, what is the shiniest u ever see on a honda?!
Thanks
Thanks
Mixing KY **** lube with the clearcoat catalyst will yield a shiny and slick finish.
On a serious note, the gloss/shinyness is due to 2 things. The clearcoat itself, and the person doing the cutting and buffing afterwards. So long as you have a professional doing it that takes their time on your car, you will be fine. :0)

the kind of black you choose is the basecoat, flamenco black has silver pearl in the base, nighthawk black has blue pearl in the base, i dont know about berlina.
If it's black you're after, then just get a straight jet black from HOK or PPG or somewhere, then concentrate on the clear. Those other colors have pearls in them, which is going to make it different.
I've heard spraying down a white base and then spraying your black base gives it a better pop. I've heard that, never seen it.
Go with your factory FBP or there is also a real Pearl Black which is sick, House of Kolor sales it but they don't list just pearl black on their website. All in all a good sand and buff after your paint will make it killer, it will cost you a couple hundred but well worth it.

But if you want it to shine and have a crazy depth.Put two wet coats of clear have it sit for a couple days for the solvents to release.Water sand it with a block with patients with 800 or 600 grit whatever you feel most comfortable with until its knocked dull.If your using a high solids clear with a ratio for a example of 2:1 put a bit of reducer by 10%depending on temp too.It will flow out beautiful and you'll have a glass finish with minimal peel and it'll be magnified so deep the reflection you'll be blown away. Not to mention if you watersand and compound on top of it.
Real custom paint jobs are done this way but there more money and consume way more time.
use straight black if you want a deep, glossy finish. get rid of the metallic flake. we just repainted the engine bay of our race car, 3 to 4 coats of clear and then wetsanded with 1000, 2000 and then polished/buffed and finished with a coat of carnuba.

yeah i did. wetsand with 1000, then 2000. then used a dewalt rotary/lambswool, then used a porter cable da/lake country ccs foam pads, then for the tight areas did some hand polishing. used two different menzerna polishes.
here is another picture, by the way this was a garage job. the whole car was painted about 5 years ago, but the engine bay needed a touch up so we just redid the whole engine bay. exterior polish/buff took 26 hours last winter, there were two of us doing the engine bay wetsand/buff this time around, took us about ten hours. sanding the primer is what took the longest, about 15 hours total of just wetsanding with 600.
