p2p in em1 (explanation inside)
I know this is a stupid question so please hold your hate back for 2 seconds and let me explain.
i need to see if my ecu is acting up in my em1, the only option i have is a guy selling parts off his car which is a p2p ecu. any idea what it will run like? or can i even plug it in to my harness.(stock harness) i dont want to waist money on the right ecu and wait 2 weeks for it to be shipped only to find out its not the problem etc.
or if you can recommend a better ecu to try i will see if i can find one in my area.
Thanks

yeah it will match. the physical ecus are the same.
you might as well do a conversion for a obd1. you will be buying a p2p and I assume later another p2t? Save yourself the trouble and get a conversion harness and an obd1 p30 or pr3-j01 ecu or any chipped ecu with a b16 program.

The OBD1 chipped ECU sounds like a hassle. I think the OP was saying that he'd borrow the P2P ECU or it's readily available for cheap.
OP: If the P2P is from an OBD2B civic, you'll be fine. I wouldn't beat on the car as the fuel map is totally different...but you can drive it around to figure out if your issue is gone or not.
What is the issue anyway? I have an EM1...so maybe I can be of some help?

2000 civic sir, dohc Vtec, replaced the engine with the same one. the engine ran fine for the first 3hours, the engine mises under 3000rpm only, dosent matter what gear or speed just under 3000rpm. i have replaced distributor, plug wires, plugs, valve adjustment, new fuel pump and filter.
i have no cel, i have good compression across all cylinders, ignition timing is set at 16 degrees. If i unplug the o2 sensor it runs rich and trips the cel, if i by pass the fuel pressure regulator it also makes no difference, the engine still gets good milage(26-28mpg) im lost.

Makes no sense that the ECU would just suddenly go bad...but I guess it won't hurt to try out a new ECU.
Did you replace the distributor with a known good one or a new one or??
