I bought a 1996 honda civic. I drove it when i got it and drove nice. Once i set it over night and it got cold i started it. It started nicely for about 5 Sec. then it drop to around 1000 RPM's then keep jumpping to 2000 RPM's And back to 1000 Like a really cold car does but not as bad. some people tell me its my intake sending cold air to the engine making it have to do that to warm it. But my friend has a CRX with a intake and his dont do that. my engine light is on and they say its a O2 Censor.(and people are saying that can be it to)

its a 1.6 Engine. EX.

Moreless i am wondering what should i be looking at to fix this?


Another Q if dont mind answering..... If its my intake what do i put there? i never put a intake on it bought it with it on it. What is the stock part called that goes there??

first.. look in the faq on this forum to check the codes you are throwing.. could be related.

if the codes don't show anything possibly related, i would bet that your FITV (fast idle thermal valve) needs to be screwed... literally. which you can search for in the faq or google for.

either way, check the codes first.

to check why the check engine light is on. you can trip a plug under the dash and it'll flash honda morse code. this series of flashes can be associated to a number which can help lead you in what could possibly be wrong with your car.

look for CEL, codes, checking.. should be easy to find in the faq, which are the locked threads at the top of this sub forum's list of threads.
