sorry i couldn't find out anything on this. My girlfriend has a 98 civic ex and the parking lights work but the farthest left brake light doesn't work so i suppose its not the bulb and i think its a fuse? Even if the problem is the fuse im not sure which fuse to pull. I don't recall finding a brake fuse on the cover so please give me hand thanks in advance.

 

There is a fuse for the Brakes in the underhood and Underdash fusebox.

The underhood one is #52, Its a 15a fuse.
The underdash one is #32 Its a 7.5a fuse.

Check those both, Have you checked the bulb?
Do you have a mutimeter?

 

sounds like the bulb is bad, the tailight bulbs are a dual filiment bulb, and it sounds like one of the filiments just burned out before the other.

 

I will definitely try switching the bulb and then the fuses thanks again guys.

 

ya so i have a similar problem. My left rear light doesnt become brighter when i brake. when i have my night lights on it does but when i press on the brake it doesnt get brighter. But i have replaced the bulb and the fuse is fine. Right after i replaced the bulb it worked for maybe 15 mins of driving then burnt out completely. Now the left brake light doesnt even work if the night lights are on. Any ideas? I have checked the wires briefly for corrosion or anything that could cause a short but i saw nothing... any clue where the problem may be?
