2002 civic ex P1298 & P0420
I took my car to auto zone to get my CEL checked last week and they told me its pulling up codes p1298 and p0420.
So i searched and found out that p1298 was a bad ELD so i bought one and replaced it. Then i got a new oxygen sensor and put it in. Pulled the Neg battery wire and plugged it back.
The light was gone until i drove to work the next day. And i took it back to autozone and its still pulling both the same codes.
Could anyone help? Ive searched the forums and googled it and couldnt find any answers.

hey man i im not too sure if i had the P0420 but i definitely had the P1298. If you have a short ram intake in your car the intake is pulling in straight up hot air. The way an intake is suppose to work is to deliver cooler air into the engine. Because you of this ur engine light goes on because of the sensor not understanding why the air is so hot.
Other then that I dont know.

P0420 indicates low catalyst efficiency. It means the catalytic converter is bad; it has nothing to do with the oxygen sensors. A faulty oxygen sensor will trip a different code. You'll need a new catalytic converter.
i also have this code. but i have a cat delete installed along with headers from dnx. what can be done to correct this.
