ECT water temp sensor... need some help
I have a 1990 civic si, with a OBD-0 LS motor. i bought the car with a wire tuck already and it always had a c.e.l. so i run the code and get a code 6. water temp sensor. this must be whats causing the very long starts. the problem is this.. I CANT FIND ANY WIRES FOR THE SENSOR OR TO WHERE ITS LOCATED. theres one sensor on the side of the head, under the distributor. and theres another one behind the block. im pretty sure its the one on the head. CAN ANYONE PLEASE show me a picture of there obd0 ls and what color wires the sensor has or a wire diagram that can show me where to find the wire. i would greatly apreciate it.
the 2 prong sensor on the side of the head is the temp sensor for the ecu. the wires for it should be very near that area. the 1 prong connector next to it provides temp readings to the gauge cluster. the 2 prong on the back of the block is for the coolant fan switch. if it's not plugged in, the coolant fan will never come on.
ok i see, alright. so heres what i have done so far, remembering that the car has a wire tuck, there was one wire that was snipped with no connecter. that turned out to be the temp reading sensor, i took the sensor from a singlecam i had laying around and that was fixed. as for the wires for the ECT sensor (code6) there isnt any around that area, there is 2 wire behind the black that apear to be cut. i cant remember the colors off the top of my head but i know they shouldnt be cut. as for the fan, its direct connected to the ciggarette lighter, so i dont really have a problem with that. so now thanks to you i know its not the sensor behind the block. but i still need the info on the color of the 2 wires for this sensor. thanks
Direct to cig? lol! why?
To each his own, but I prefer when things are hooked up properly.
If you don't care to fix this then don't worry about the 2 wires on the back of the block being cut.
concentrate on the two wire sensor on the head near the water neck for the ECT code.

and the one tht goes to the ecu is red and green if im not mistaken how about the 1 pin sensor what colors the cable?
im talking obd0 ZC idk if colors change when you go B series(obd1/2)

yeah I copied that link from an Australian website, ha

heres an OBD1 GSR the TW sensor is the water temp sensor to the ECU. The coolant temp sensor goes to your gauge.
check this thread for the OBD1/2 and OBD0 fan switch differences in wiring and placement with pictures

theres a pic that hondpartshero posted. look at the sensor. its like a little metal stick(in simplest terms) the plug for it would be somewhat the size of a straw..
ex) =] (its not a smiley face). the equal sign can represent the sensor itself, sticking out, and the other symbol would be the part you simply plug in. i dont know if i made any sense lol. but i dont have a camera to take pics. are you missing it or something?

a little plastic straw looking joints with a metal crimpon connector inside them somewhat like the tranny reverse cables?
yeah I think I am missing it and I need to know asap as I'm finishing my finishing touches on my harness for my ZC so if anyone got a pic of the connector that plugs onto this sensor please post a pic...
