Alright guys and girls.

1996 Integra with a B20 engine mated to a GSR transmission. The transmission has about 250+K miles on it with no history of rebuilds or changing of bearings or seals.

When the car is idling there is a whirring whiney noise. When the clutch pedal is pressed, noise goes away. Im gonna guess INPUT SHAFT BEARING on this one.

I changed the clutch 10K miles ago but I will change the throwout and pilot bearing again.

This is what is concerning me though, the car doesnt get into any gears without a good amount of force. Sometimes I feel like im going to break the shifter just trying to get into gears. All gears.

I turn the car off and the car gets into all gears fine. Are these hard shifts caused by the ISB?

Other info: Castle nuts had no cotterpins which also leads me to think how the ISB problem started.

Any advice would be appreciated.

 

I would get a stethoscope and listen into the transmission bearings mainly the main shaft counter shaft bearing and listen for the noise. More then likely your throw out bearing is the issue.

 

make sure there is enugh fluid in the trans bro
