B16A Head Gasket Change
So im doing my headgasket on my jdm b16a and we got everything off....im doing a full gasket/seal rebuild ...arp head studs and i just got head back from the shop a valve job and the whole 9 ... need to kno alll torque specs for cam caps and arp's and everything else....plus i unbolted my disturbitor...some1 told me that if i did that i ****ed up my timing or firing order? would like some clearance and answers thx...
The specs for the head studs should come in or on the box if they're new. And dang it, buy a Haynes, Chilton, or some other manual. All the factory specs are in there and aside from new wiper blades, it's the best $20 you can spend.
I think the GSR and B16 studs are similar, but verify they're the same 7/16" diameter
GSRs are 80ft lbs with ARP lube or 85 with SAE 30 motor oil. Make sure to work from the inside out when tightening or you can warp the head.
According to my Haynes manual...
The smaller bolts (6mm) are 86in lbs. Note, INCH lbs. Divide by 12 if using ft lb wrench.
The bigger bolts (8mm) are 20ft lbs. Note again, these are FOOT lbs.
If you take the distributor off, either mark it so you can clock it back in the right position or get a timing light... You can tweak your timing a little to get a bit more top or bottom end power, but that's like a couple degrees either direction of where it should be.
If you need any more specs, buy a manual. It's invaluable when doing something like you're doing.
