Default Shaving Doors!

Any tips, or things I should look out for? Just wanna be sure I'm not making any mistakes and what-not. Also, any cheap places or sites I should check out for the kit? Looking for two 45lb poppers (unless someone thinks 45lbs isn't enough)

Thanks in advance,

Don't get me wrong. I think youre right. It does look clean. I've thought of shaving the moldings on the side. Just do what you like and who cares what people say. It is your car after all. I've just also read on other threads that it is illegal in some states to shave the handles due to the fact that I guess if a cop pulls you over they cant open the door? I'm not too sure. In Texas we can pretty much do what ever. lol SO just do some research.

I'm pretty sure it's legal, I've seen some people here in New York with it done. But thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it. Also, thanks for understanding where I'm coming from. That's such a big issue with me. I don't understand why honda owners judge other honda owners so much, if everyone listened to each other, we would all be driving the same car. Let's have a bit of originality and stop being scared of being CALLED a ricer.

also, it would be nice to find one with some security, I might consider spending a little extra if it's "okay". since the only thing keeping my car safe are manual locks (y)

I think the same thing. I had my civic coupe JDM and My friend had a civic and had it "eurod" (sp) out or "riced out, how ever you wanna call it" and when we would go places people would talk sht to him and it would make me mad cause most of them didn't even have a car. Its your car, your money. lol

I always wanted to shave my doors as-well, but I figured if something happened and your **** wont open by remote, how would you get your door open? So now I just want a keyless entry (no key hole, just handle).

yeah, was worried about that, but I find a diy on how to have a backup "switch" seemed pretty simple, so why not. And what would really happen? backup battery also, not too worried, worse comes to worse, coat hanger! haha

I don't know a whole lot about shaving handles, but you said w/o a remote? how do you get the doors open if you don't have a remote? is there a button somewhere?

haha good point. just gotta do your best installing them and hope for the best I guess. nothing much different than "what if your engine craps out on that vacation", right? unno. could be wrong/oblivious

in some cases yeah, but I think it's not coming with a remote just in case you already have a programmable one or something.. could be wrong, not 100% sure how it works either

I had it done on my EG coupe. I loved it. So did the ladies. Makes it much easier to be the gentleman. You always open their door. LOL! But I had a Compustar alarm, then I just hooked up the lock/unlock solenoid to the door latch. Then I used the other aux port for the trunk.

Don't plan to track the car if its shaved. Most tracks wont let you run as its a safety issue if the door cant be opened from the outside.

yeah, read that somewhere. I think you can have them shaved, as long as something is done with the window, not exactly sure what

The only way it is is if there is a hole in your window and there is a way for the door to be opened from outside the car. A lot of tracks will not allow you to run.

So non glass windows with a hold and an outside door switch. Kinda defeats the extra security you were looking for. That is why I never bothered with it.

yeah exactly, not planning on taking it to the track anyway, and if I do, I'm sure there's a way to work around it. I'm fine with a dd

Swap 4door handles on and leave it be. What if the poppers fail or you leave your lights on and your battery dies? Then you're SOL, and that's not as in DEL SOL.

Not trying to hate on the idea, I think it's clean looking too, but I don't see it being practical. At the very least, don't shave the trunk lock. That way you can climb through there if need be. Yes, I've done it before...
