Default B20 help

Just trying to gather some info.I have a b20 i am gonna build but before i do i wanna gather a little info from others. My idea was to do a b20 vtec and do a mild build with that.I guess my question would be is it worth it to build a b20 non vtec?Im new to b20 scene so i dont know alot about them yet.Im not trying to make a ton of power or anything like that.I tired to research a bit to see if anyone else is building or built a b20 non vtec but didnt come up with anything. So give me some imput if you would please.

I would just do a B20vtec if you could get a B18c/B16 head. It would be worth doing if you want a fast enough car to have fun with. Check out B20Vtec.com for more information.

first thing is first please stop calling it Non vtec b20. When you say B20Vtec people will understand you better. Golden Eagle makes a kit that will allow you do this without machining the head.

Low Comp B20 + B16 Head: ~9.1:1
High Comp B20 + B16 Head: ~10:1

Give or take depending on head machining, HG thickness, and my failing memory. With a GSR head you'll gain a little more CR.

Make sure you upgrade the oil pump, change out all of the old seals and check the main and rod bearings if you are leaving the bottom end stock. I bought a shortblock a couple of years back, didn't check the bearings and ended up with rod knock on the dyno. It is never fun to take the damn thing apart twice.

Make sure to have the head surfaced and the deck checked before assembly. Starting with straight surfaces will ensure a nice seal. Good luck
