Ok guys here is the deal. When I went to start my 93 del sol it does not crank the motor, but the starter spins. After some research and common knowledge, I know its not my battery because I drive this car everyday and actually drove it the night before and it was fine. The temperatures here are extremely low, and windchill's are well below negative. I think that the solenoid is frozen and not allowing the starter to make contact with the flywheel. Does that make sense? Also I must add that I drove through a large puddle right before parking it for the night, and it would not start the next morning. That also supports my thinking. So...

How do a I go about thawing it out? I have read some things about people tapping on the starter. I have hand warmers on it right now trying to warm it up. The temps. are not going up anytime soon, and i need my car.

 

Nevermind I figured it out. Turns out I was correct. Something in there was too cold and it wouldnt move when I went to start the car. I took the entire starter off, took it apart, let it warm up, then reinstalled. Turned over and started on the first try after that.
