Meet your door checker (easy diy repair)
From the factory, our cars came with a feature that holds the door open for us when getting out of the car. This was particularly useful when the car was on an incline. Anyways, about 3 years ago, I noticed that my door would close onto my leg if i let go of the door. This was very annoying. Upon investigation, i noticed that the "door checker" was worn out. I didn't replace it right away because Canadian honda wanted $65 for the part (i was also too lazy to fix it right away). Fast forward to 2010 and I finally go so fed up with it that i finally ordered a new one from American Honda ($12usd+shipping).
Anyways, if your door won't stay open by itself, replace the door checker! I've seen lots of Hondas with this part not working properly (it's a plastic part). It's item 15 and 18 in the picture below. To replace the door checker, you have to remove the 3 bolts on the part (door sill area). You then have to remove the plastic door panel to pull the door checker out from inside the door.
