Default I Need Your Expert Advice about Tuning my Del Sol

I'm new here at HondaTech, and also to tuning cars, but I want to learn. I need advice about tuning my Del Sol and I know that this is the place to be in order for that to happen.

I own a 1996 Del Sol, with a d16y7 engine and I desperately want more power and speed. I want to build (with a professional's help) an all motor setup that prduces around 250 or more horsepower, with the best potential to eventually be turboed. I hope to occasionally run my car at the drag strip one day, but right now, all I really do is mess around on the street. I hope to spend no more than $4,000-$5,000, for now.

I've looked into doing either an H22a or a B18c5 swap, but I have several questions first.

1. Which of these swaps would best help me reach my hp goal (I want the
engine to be able to take a good beating also)

2. If I do an H22 swap, what are some modifications I could do in order to
reach ~250 hp?

3. What about if I do a B18c5 swap?

If you reply, thank you so much.

Also, know that I will probably have some more Noob questions to ask about your advice. I want to get this modification stuff right.

Straight up, you best and cheaper option is the B18C5 (JDM B18C Type R), the swap is a little cheaper as far as the components required to perform it. I am in the process of doing a swap in my '93 Del Sol Si, I am installing a B18C1. Engine, Header, Intake and tune up parts, I am around 4k. Expect to spend somewhere in the 5k+ range for the Type R swap. But you can find plenty of information on both swaps in this forum.

yeah to make 250 out of an all motor d series setup while not impossible would be plain stupid and way to much more work and money than a swap.

throw in a b18c1, the c5 is too expensive.
with $5000 you can acheive 250hp, if you spend it well on the right parts.
